June 13, 2019, Thursday - Hearts of Our People: Native Women Artists | Tour at Mia

Time: 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM

Location: Minneapolis Institute of Art, 2400 3rd Avenue S

Hearts of Our People: Native Women Artists | Tour at Mia

Hosted by Studio/E

For the first time ever, a major exhibit of North American Native Women's art is on view, and it's happening in our backyard. The Minneapolis Institute of Art is once again showing our community what leadership looks like in action with Hearts of Our People: Native Women Artists, which was assembled with the help of the Native Exhibition Advisory Board and features artistic achievements spanning 1,000 years and 115 artists.

Much of the art across American museums is produced by Europeans, the vast majority of which is by men. This exhibition breaks the standards created around art and brings the deserved significance and awareness to this underrepresented group of talented artists.

Revealed in the show’s intricate art pieces are technical masteries passed down from generation to generation. On Thursday, June 13, 2019, we are touring this astonishing collection of pottery, textiles, paintings, portraits, and more while weaving these women’s untold stories into our lives.
