October 31, 2018, Wednesday - Final Four Informational Event at Westminster Church
TIme: 2-4 PM
Location: Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1200 Marquette Avenue
Because for the first time in 18 years, the most highly anticipated college championship event in the nation returns to Minneapolis.
By now you have surely heard that the pinnacle event of the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Championship, the Final Four, will be played at U.S. Bank Stadium, April 6 and 8, 2019. We are here to help you with what to expect in this opportunity as well as provide information on the preparation needed to successfully host this major event.
The Final Four experience is unlike any other. An estimated 94,000 passionate hoops fans and college students will pour into downtown Minneapolis for a four‐day, joy‐filled celebration of college athletics. Enthusiastic fans, decked out in team colors and spontaneously chanting, will bring a buzz to the streets, local establishments and hotels. People from our region will join them as well, to enjoy what our city has to offer.
Thousands of basketball coaches from all over the country will also take in the sights and sounds of Minneapolis, while meeting with peers and colleagues at their annual convention. And, as we would expect, several thousand friendly volunteers will ensure that all visitors experience a warm Minnesota welcome. The energy will be infectious.
The Final Four is much more than three basketball games. All weekend long, everyone is invited to attend free and low‐cost events and entertainment around the city, including downtown workers. The Final Four is as much for locals as it is for visitors. Beginning Friday April 5, interactive events for all ages will offer something for everyone to ‘come downtown and stay downtown’. These events include:
Friday, April 5: A free, open access day at U.S. Bank Stadium‐ Fun and free for the entire family and people of all ages, fans can see the stadium as it looks for the
championship games and get down close to courtside action, taking a seat anywhere in the house. The Final Four teams will have their last open practice before Saturday’s national semifinal games, followed by a college all‐star game in the afternoon.
Friday, April 5‐Monday, April 8: A Fan Festival – Fans will enjoy interactive games, special celebrity and athlete appearances, autograph signings and much more at the Convention Center. There’s fun for all ages, and kids 12 and under get in free.
Sunday, April 7: A Basketball Parade‐ Thousands of children will participate in The Dribble, showing their moves and parading with basketballs through the streets of Minneapolis, along a route ending at Fan Fest, where they will receive free entry.
Friday, April 5‐Sunday April 7: A Music Series – Top, nationally known artists will perform live music in downtown Minneapolis. More details to come soon.
To learn more about what’s in store, you are invited to attend the first of a series of briefings, in which developing event plans will be shared and dialogue can occur. Our goal is to keep downtown stakeholders informed and assist in your preparations for a fantastic Final Four. The first meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 31 from 2‐4 p.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church, (1200 Marquette Ave, in the Westminster Hall – enter from Nicollet). Members of the 2019 Minneapolis Final Four Local Organizing Committee will be on‐hand to provide a Final Four event overview and share what is upcoming in the planning process. Members of our organizations will also be there to provide you with resources to stay in touch and to get involved. This will include an update on the current skyway app and discussion of options to expand coverage to help visitors navigate easily throughout our city.

October 31, 2018, Wednesday - Boom Island Brewing's Half-Assed Halloween
Time: 4 – 9 pm
Date: Boom Island Brewing, 2014 Washington Ave. N.
Boom Island's Half-Assed Halloween
In the grand scheme of things, Boom Island has been around for a long time. We pride ourselves on our unique beers and special event ideas that occasionally get replicated around town. When it comes to Halloween parties, however, we have to admit, every other brewery in town tends to do a better job than us. We will go toe to toe with anyone when it comes to Christmas parties, but not Halloween. We wondered what we could possibly do to compete with all the breweries that take their Halloween parties very seriously?
There’s only one answer: throw a Half-Assed Halloween Party! That’s right, we will have half assed sound effect music from the 60’s. We will have misshapen pumpkins and lame decorations. We will have the highly unpopular candy corn and circus peanuts on hand. We have thoughts of exploring a few sugar-free options as well. A basket of Halloween gourds goes to the winner of our Lame Costume contest. Our sponsor, Park Dental, will be offering free toothbrushes while supplies last. We might even have a few apples in the room.
Join us for a Half-Assed Halloween at Boom Island. If you are planning to go to multiple rooms on Halloween, make a point to stop by. Come by early, we close at 9pm. This way you don’t have to buy candy for those thankless brats in your neighborhood. We promise to make all the other Halloween parties you attend look fantastic. We also promise to serve great beer during this event -- that will never change.
October 30, 2018, Tuesday - Break the Bubble @ Modist Brewing Co.

Location: Modist Brewing Co., 505 N 3rd Street
Break the Bubble @ Modist Brewing Co.
Are you ready for Halloween? We are! Break the Bubble will host an epic Halloween costume party on Tuesday, October 30 at Modist Brewing Co. We're offering prizes for the best costume so come dressed to impress!
So wait, this is a singles event right? Or a professional networking thing?
Nope. Break the Bubble is for making friends, pure and simple. You can leave the pick-up lines and elevator speeches at home. Refreshing, isn't it?
What's the format?
1. Show up
2. Put on a name tag
3. Introduce yourself to someone new
I heard these events have themes. What’s up with that?
Yep. Our events have themes because most of us need a little help kickstarting conversations with people we don't know. Our question for October has a Halloween flare: "What scares you?"

Demons of the Deep Blue Sea at the Twin Cities Horror Festival

October 29, 2018, Monday - Death Makeovers! (Embalming & Death Photos in the Lobby at TCHF) at Southern Theater
Time: 6:30p nightly
Location: The Southern Theater, 1420 Washington Ave S
Death Makeovers! (Embalming & Death Photos in the Lobby at TCHF)
Macabre pranksters and Pre-Postmortem Experts, Amica and Hekate, will fly from Portland Oregon to Minneapolis' Twin Cities Horror Festival this fall to provide one-of-a-kind embalming makeovers and death portraits in the lobby of the theater between shows.
Think of us as a creepy, silly, ambient, live performance art installation.... Or sort of like those chair massage tents that set up in parks and airports and malls.
First we'll lay you down, turn on some soothing (freaky) music, and go through the motions of "embalming" while bantering over your "dead" body. Then we give you a mini corpse-like makeover, lay you in the coffin, snap a photo, sign your death certificate, and send you on your way with your souvenirs!
Stop by our morgue between shows to see what it's like on the coroner's slab!
Appointments are flexible, lasting between 10 and 20 minutes, and can be made in advance (or just walk on up), and are performed for a sliding scale donation (Suggested $15-30).
Sign up for your Death Makeover and Casket Picture in advance by shooting us a DM or email with your preferred time! (funeralsforlifepdx@gmail.com)

October 27, 2018, Saturday - Halloween Bar Crawl
Time: Check in 4p-6p
Location:
To start the crawl you will need to first pick one of our check in locations. Remember you only need to check in once. During the check in you will receive two very important things. The first will be our official crawl wristband. The second will be your ticket(s) for free drinks. Every crawl is a little different, but the "Bar Crawl" section below you will see what venues and how many are offering free drinks.
Our crawls are often called Make Your Own Adventure Crawls. The reason for this is we have a ton of bars, drink specials, and other things going on, but we don't have a set agenda. The reason we don't have a bar 1, bar 2, bar 3 format, is because most of the time crawls are so large many of the bars are not big enough for the whole group.
