January 13, 2020, Monday - FINNEGANS 2nd Annual Dark Week (thru Dec. 18)

FINNEGANS 2nd Annual Dark Week

FINNEGANS, 817 5th Avenue S, the first beer company to donate 100 percent of profits to charities fighting hunger, is embracing winter with their 2nd Annual Dark Week. For each night throughout the week of January 13-18, they’re releasing a new dark style beer. Head Brewer Ryan Mihm went all out — no repeats from last year!

Here’s what he’s brewing:

  • Baltic Porter (Released Monday 1/13) - A dark lager aged in wine barrels for a year. This baltic porter packs an oaky chocolatey punch, with big dark fruit character, and subtle grape notes.

  • Thin Lizzy (Released Tuesday 1/14) - Full bodied Black IPA brewed with chocolate rye malt to give this brew spicy chocolate aromas. Dry hopped with Loral and Centennial to add floral and mild citrus notes.

  • Tulip Poplar (Released Wednesday 1/15) - Mix blend of bourbon and whiskey barrel aged beer consisting of four different barrels with three different beer styles. This blend that’s mahogany in color will warm the senses with its vanillin and funk like character.

  • Lucifer (Released Thursday 1/16) - Milk Stout brewed with cocoa nibs and lactose. Big robust dark chocolate and roasted malt notes with a fluffy creamy mouthfeel.

  • Raspberry Brown (Released Friday 1/17) - American Brown Stout aged in custom all Minnesota White Oak Barrels. We transferred this beer onto a heaping amount of raspberries for conditioning before kegging. Mildly tart, ripe berry fruits, carmel character, sweet malt, and oak tannin.

  • BB2 (Released Saturday 1/18) - Oak ages American Stout conditioned on blackberry puree. Jam/chocolate infused-like notes with medium oak and spirit pick up. Dry, roasted malt character, and mild barrel funk

FINNEGANS is hosting an exclusive VIP party on Thursday, January 16 from 4-8PM upstairs in the Brewer’s Den for media and ticket holders (check the website for ticket availability). Attendees will be treated to live music, complimentary appetizers, and the opportunity to be among the first to try two new releases.
