November 6, 2016, Sunday - BESPEAK Holiday Pop-Up at A-Mill Artist Lofts

Time: 11:00am-4:00pm

Location: Pillsbury A-Mill Artist Lofts, 315 SE Main Street

Celina Kane of HAT MAKE and Gina Moorhead of House of Gina Marie are hosting a pre-holiday sale,  BESPEAK, with a focus on made-to-measure goods.

We will have an intimate line up of local vendors of all different mediums featuring women’s and men’s apparel, hats, leather goods, shoes, handbags, jewelry, paper & home accessories. We are choosing to focus on “made-to-measure” for a number of reasons that we hope will be a benefit to all.

First, as artisans 'bespoke' is at the heart of growing sustainable businesses– we hope for us and our vendors it will be a way to participate in this market economically, showing off samples and taking custom orders. Secondly, it is an opportunity to market everyone’s skills and provide customization– something that differentiates us as smaller scale makers and differentiates BESPEAK from other holiday pop-ups.

BESPEAK will be held on Sunday, November 6th from 11am-4pm in the historic Pillsbury A-Mill, 315 SE Main Street, Minneapolis, MN 55414.

Light snacks will be provided by Spoonriver and there will be a variety of libations from local sponsors. Attending the event will be free to guests.

The line up includes:
House of Gina Marie
Gras Mark
HAT MAKE
Annika Kaplan
Koonyai Studio
Hemlocks Leather
The Elixery
Lizzie Paper
Greenwich Leather
The Cookie Creative
Danielle Sakry Handbags

November 5, 2016, Saturday - Dinner Detective at Courtyard Minneapolis Downtown

Time: Doors open at 6:00pm

Location: Courtyard Minneapolis Downtown, 1500 Washington Avenue S

Dinner Detective Minneapolis

The Dinner Detective is America’s LARGEST, award-winning interactive comedic murder mystery dinner show! Our high-energy, modern-day whodunit is combined with a full four-course meal.

Our immensely popular murder mystery shows are set in the present day. Unlike other murder mystery dinner shows (or just dinner shows in general), with The Dinner Detective, you and your guests will not find themselves staring at cheesy costumes, there will be no recited campy dialogue and certainly no hokey song and dance. Our performers are dressed just like everyone else, leaving all of the guests to suspect who is a part of the show and who is not! All scripts are based on actual cold cases and are created in house. From the get go, the guests are seated with the performers and most likely will not realize it! Our Detectives enter the room, proceed to interrogate guests, find clues and start the investigation. This allows our guests to socialize with and interrogate each other, while deciphering real life-based clues. At the end of the night, prizes are awarded to the Top Sleuth who solves the crime!

Location: Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, 2315 Chicago Avenue

United Against Islamophobia Panel

Islamophobia is increasingly rising to the front of national attention. Establishing trust and building relationships among people of different faiths and cultures is a priority for Minneapolis Council Members Warsame and Frey. In a time when Islam is the subject of much discussion and controversy, Warsame and Frey hope to enable an ongoing open dialogue, in a safe environment for debate, and promote a more informed understanding of Muslim culture. They want to extend an invitation to all community members to attend to this panel on November 2 at 6:30 pm at the Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church.

“As an American who is a Muslim, black and an immigrant, Anti-Muslim and anti-immigrant bigotry undermines the values I strive to live out every day: the American values. It is important to talk about Islamophobia and raise our voices to increase awareness and education. It is my hope that leaders and community members work together to promote inclusion and respect for one another” – Abdi Warsame.

“As a Jewish man, I love my Muslim sisters and brothers. Now more than ever, appreciation and celebration of our differences must be paramount, and this forum provides a grand opportunity” – Jacob Frey

Confirmed speakers include:

The Honorable Judge LaJune Lange (Ret.)
Lange is a senior fellow with the Roy Wilkins Center for Human Relations and Social Justice. A retired State of Minnesota trial court judge, Lange is an expert on legal and constitutional standards for discrimination in state and federal courts.

Pastor Laurie Eaton
Pastor Eaton was called as pastor to Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Minneapolis in 2009. She is an active leader in ISAIAH, a coalition of approximately 100 congregations committed to living out faith values in the public realm, seeking racial and economic equity in our state.
