March 12, 2020, Thursday - Meet the Makers: Charcuterie & Beer Pairing at Inbound BrewCo

Time: 6p - 8p

Location: Inbound BrewCo, 701 N 5th Street

Charcuterie & Beer Pairing

Join us in the Inbound BrewCo barrel room for an intimate evening of beer and charcuterie pairings. Inbound is bringing a lineup of stellar local craft beer, and our friends from the Food Building are showing up with the perfect bites for pairing.

Experts from Red Table Meat Co. and Alemar Cheese will walk guests through flavor nuances as you enjoy pairing local products on your palate.

Red Table Meat Co. will showcase their award-winning meats, including two varieties of salami, Salbando Grande and Salami Francois, along with mortadella, all made at the Food Building in Northeast Minneapolis from locally sourced products.

Alemar Cheese, also a Food Building resident, is known for its French-style, ripened soft cheeses, the perfect counter point to Inbound’s brews. Sample a variety of styles of cheeses, including Alemar’s Blue Earth, Good Thunder and new semi-firm product, St. James.

Also enjoy herbed Fromage Blanc and other accompaniments including fresh bread from fellow Food Building makers.

------
Your ticket covers the food portion of the evening. A pre-selected flight of beer pairings can be purchased during the event at the taproom.

March 8, 2020, Sunday - Fundamentals of Shaping at FOOD BUILDING

Time: 6p - 9p

Location: FOOD BUILDING, 1401 Marshall Street NE

Fundamentals of Shaping

Join us for a baking class on the fundamentals of dough shaping!

While part of bread’s delights come from flavor and the texture, an important element that influences these is a bread’s shape. Learn a variety of shapes including boule, batard, baguette and rolls through demonstration and hands-on practice. We will discuss which types of dough are most appropriate for various shapes, how to use tools like couches and lames, and how far to bake for best color and flavor. Note that the focus of the class is shaping, not dough production, as doughs will be prepared prior to class. Class participants will participate in baking loaves, and will take their shaped, baked loaves home.

As the class is held in an active commercial kitchen, students should wear comfortable clothing, closed-toed shoes and a hat. Aprons are available to borrow, or use your own if you prefer. Please advise us in advance of any food allergies, as snacks and samples will be provided throughout.

By eliminating titles and byline for each poem, the audience is given an opportunity to connect more viscerally with the work by having to read between the lines without preconceptions of race, gender or sexual orientation. The outcome is an ouroboros of words written by two uniquely different individuals coming together.

Join moderator Jade Patrick alongside From Us: Together Forever Sometimes poets Molly-Margaret Johnson & Kareem Rahma in a discussion of engaging, perception-bending conversations filled with an appreciation and respect for differences.
