Join the Minneapolis Aquatennial in celebrating another year of with the Target Fireworks, considered one of the top five annual fireworks displays in the nation. The event will take place at 10 p.m. on Saturday, July 27. Get there early! Space fills up pretty quickly at this beloved event along West River Parkway and on the Stone Arch Bridge. Music and activities run from 4-10 pm.

Viewing Tips: Come early to get your viewing spot—bring sunscreen for the afternoon and bug spray for the evening. The best spots are between Gold Medal Park and the 3rd Avenue Bridge on West River Parkway.

While you’re there: Lets get festive down at the river where the City of Minneapolis was born! Minneapolis Craft Market is joining the fun of the 2019 Minneapolis Aquatennial festivities on the Mississippi Riverfront. Thousands of visitors gather downtown to watch one of the country’s largest annual fireworks displays, and take in the fun of downtown on a summer night!

Our marketplace will be located on Chicago Mall between the Guthrie Theater and Spoon River Restaurant (the same location as Mill City Farmers Market), a great central location for meeting up with friends and enjoying the festivities while waiting for the fireworks to start. The National Park Service and Mississippi Park Connection invite you to experience Upper St. Anthony Falls Lock Visitor Center like never before!

In conjunction with the Minneapolis Aquatennial, enjoy a leisurely stroll or picnic on the lock wall surrounded by panoramic views of the falls, explore the visitor center, interact with National Park Service rangers and the Army Corps of Engineers, and discover the history and impact of the falls on Minneapolis and the nation.

In the evening, experience the first-ever concert on the lock wall, featuring Prairie Fire Lady Choir (5:15-5:45 PM) and Southside Aces (6:00-8:00 PM).

The event will offer a chance for eight Minneapolis restaurants to build a brand new French Fry-centric dish. Celebrity judges will help taste-test these dishes and collectively choose a winner. Upper St. Anthony Falls Lock and Dam provides panoramic views of the Upper St. Anthony Lock and Dam, St. Anthony Falls and the surrounding mill district. Exhibits at the visitor center provide information about the falls and its place in Minnesota history. Rangers lead short walks from the visitor center out onto the lock walls and describe how the falls changed the course of history of the area and of the nation. This season the St. Anthony Falls Visitor Center and lock will be open during "sunset hours" on select dates, in addition to its normal daytime hours.

The Museum is housed in the historic Christian Family Residence in the Washburn-Fair Oaks Historic District. Participate in “Hennepin County Trivia” to win some great prizes from the Museum and support local history!

Current exhibits: Inventions & Innovations; Being Human: Stories from Humans of Minneapolis; History of Hennepin County; Shelf Life: Open Storage and Preservation at Hennepin History Museum; Aquatennial Pop-Up Display.
