For families. Join us for "The Amazing Cow Boat," an interactive puppet show about a young boy who takes a pretend adventure as the captain of a boat that is part cow, all from the comfort of his bathtub.
This project is funded with money from Minnesota's Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
Presented in collaboration with Open Eye Figure Theatre and sponsored by MELSA (Metropolitan Library Service Agency).

The Minneapolis Park & Recreation Board will host the 11th Community Advisory Committee (CAC) meeting to gather public input for the Central Mississippi Riverfront Regional Park Master Plan. The design team will be talking through their recommendations for the Master Plan. This meeting is open to the public; please join us!

Midwest Photo Safari "Minneapolis Nights" Mill Ruins Park/Guthrie Theatre
This Photo Safari takes place on the West end of the Stone Arch Bridge. We photograph Mill Ruins Park, then walk up to the Guthrie Theatre and photograph this fabulous buildings exterior from all angles..We conclude the tour at the well lit I35W Bridge Memorial Site.
Before we begin, we will have a short presentation covering basic principles of low light/night photography. When darkness sets in, this area comes alive with interesting lights. We will help you capture stunning night images you are sure to want to frame.
This safari is best done with a digital SLR or a better quality digital point and shoot with advanced scene modes. Your Safari guide / photographer will be carrying a Sony digital point and shoot to demonstrate the techniques we will be covering. For this safari, a sturdy tripod an absolute necessity... Midwest Photo Safari can provide pro-quality rental tripods on request. A remote shutter release is also very handy to have along, or you may use the "self timer" feature of your camera.

Beginning with the arrival of Minnesota’s first rail line in 1862, Minneapolis boomed in population. Flour milling, lumber production and warehousing took off as a rail network extended throughout the Upper Midwest. Take a guided tour to discover the impact of railroads on the Mill City, visiting railroad landmarks such as the Stone Arch Bridge, Milwaukee Road Depot and the Minneapolis Eastern Railway engine house and trestle. Along the way find clues to the vanishing railroad landscape and learn about the future of Twin Cities rail.
The tour includes 1.5 miles of moderately paced walking on uneven surfaces. Please call ahead to make arrangements for guests with limited mobility. The tour will begin and end at Mill City Museum, where participants can visit the museum’s gallery, included in the price of the tour. Tours are held rain or shine.

Patty and The Buttons preach the gospel of hot rhythm and happy feet. The band is similar to what you would find in a dance hall, cafe or nightclub anywhere around the world between 1920-1940. Despite being an ensemble firmly rooted in tradition, the band presents their music without being shackled to history. They play their own compositions as well as takes on music of the era.

Participants will visit the historic district at St. Anthony Falls, which was once the milling center of the world and is now a growing cultural, recreational and residential neighborhood. Hungry for an off-the-beaten path Minneapolis food experience? Join us as we explore one of the city's trendy and historical neighborhoods, Mill District and St. Anthony on Main in Northeast Minneapolis. You'll enjoy the afternoon sampling food at the first Thai restaurant in Minnesota, drinking local Minnesota brewed beer at the oldest restaurant in Minneapolis, and enjoy a local favorite - the cheese curds. Each year a spectacular fireworks display concludes the Red, White and Boom Celebration. The fireworks display is scheduled for 10pm on July 4 and will be shot off from Water Power Park. Find your viewing area.
The Fourth of July Fireworks are funded by private donations from property owners, businesses, retailers, food and beverage establishments, residential communities, loft and condominium associations and property management companies located or doing business in Minneapolis.
