Time: 6p -10p

Location: The Armory, 500 6th Street S

Hennepin Healthcare Foundation's Light up the Night

Nowhere is generosity more publicly expressed for Hennepin Healthcare than at Light Up the Night. This signature gala is an exceptional opportunity to celebrate and support the crucial role Hennepin Healthcare (formally HCMC) plays in our community. Caring for anyone at any time with any condition takes a team of people and resources. Created in 2011 by the Hennepin Healthcare Foundation, this gala has raised over $2 million in proceeds for patient care, community health, medical education and innovation.

This year’s gala will publicly launch the Center for Family Healing, the nation’s first two-generation approach to child and family mental health and well-being.

Our eighth year will offer some refreshing surprises while retaining our hallmark action stations. Returning to the beautifully renovated Armory, our gala will embrace the art deco theme and encourages attire reminiscent of the 1930s.

Time: 7-10pm

Location: Gamut Gallery, 717 S 10th St

Raging Art On 2018 : Annual Holiday Pop-Up

Gamut Gallery’s annual holiday event “Raging Art On” (RAO) returns this December with half of the 50 artists new to the show, and will run for three full weekends through December 22nd. Like years past, RAO is a cash-n-carry holiday sale in a gallery setting where there is literally art from ceiling to floor. It is “uncurated” in the sense that, aside from selecting who participates, the rest is left entirely up to the artists: what artwork to bring, how much to bring, and where it is hung. What results is a gallery packed to the brim with paintings, photos, prints, collectibles, handmade apparel, jewelry, housewares, and more.

RAO will kick-off with a proper party featuring DJ Baard on Wednesday, December 5th from 7-10pm. Admission to this “first dibs” opener will be $20 or FREE with gallery membership. Capacity is limited, so reserve your ticket today: https://ragingarton2018.bpt.me

December 3, 2018, Monday - MEET UP: Little Birdy Project at Machine Shop

Time: 6 PM – 7 PM

Location: Machine Shop, 300 2nd Street SE

MEET UP: Little Birdy Project

Marcy-Holmes Neighborhood Association's (MHNA) year-long, Little Birdy Project explores the power a positive word makes in the community by posting signs around the neighborhood that are printed with one positive word. The first sign highlights the word IMAGINE.

Little Birdy seeks to engage community and foster connections among neighbors and residents.

Our goal is to engage the community in one to one discussions and to foster connections among neighbors and residents. We are hoping to get people talking - in their homes, yards, sidewalks, places of worship, restaurants, coffee shops, banks, parks, etc. The Little Birdy signs are meant to get people thinking and talking, not in a combative way but rather a decent, gentle, over-the-fence conversational way. The vitality and security of a neighborhood truly depends on having closer human connections, and we hope that the Little Birdy Project will be that goal starter!

In this first meet-up, we will give people an opportunity to explore the relevance of the word, IMAGINE, in community life.

Here, we can explore questions, such as:

What matters most to you in life?
Who are your heroes? And why?
Have you been someone’s hero?
What did you imagine your life to be 5 years ago?
Did you reach your imagination? Did you go past your imagination?
What do you imagine the next 5 years to be?
Can a community imagine together?
Have you been a part of a community imagination project before? What was the outcome?
What is the difference between imagining, dreaming, creating? Is there a difference?
Do you see yourself as a dreamer? A doer? A helper? A leader? A follower?
What keeps you from following your dreams? Helping another? Leading a group?
