Burgundy Masterclass: The Wines of the Côte de Beaune

Twin Cities Wine Education presents a special night of amazing Burgundies!

The Burgundy Masterclass: The Wines of the Côte de Beaune
The southern half of the Côte d'Or, known as the Côte de Beaune, is revered for the Chardonnays that are produced there, along with the ethereal reds from Pinot Noir. Legendary regions such as Chassagne-Montrachet, Puligny-Montrachet, Meursault, Volnay, and Pommard have captured the palates of wine lovers for generations, and in this class, we'll learn why.

We'll start with an overview of Burgundy, including its history and the ideas behind 'terroir.' Then we'll dive into the Côte de Beaune and do a village-by-village analysis of what those regions bring to the glass. Included will be tasting a wide variety of wines, from basic Bourgogne through top-level Premier Cru wines.

Detailed discussion with focus on the comparison of three great white wine villages: Puligny, Chassagne, and Meursault; plus three great red wine villages: Volnay, Pommard, and Chorey-Les-Beaune. Additionally, we'll cover in detail the surrounding villages plus an understanding of the Burgundy ranking systems for wine.

We will taste six great wines over the course of the class to help bring full understanding.
