November 4, 2012, Sunday - Bakken Trio at MacPhail Center for Music
Time: 4:00pm
Location: MacPhail Center for Music, 501 2nd Street South
Pianist Judy Lin, returning from a year in Singapore, has programmed her favorite chamber works from the Bakken Trio repertoire in a program called "Reflections on ghosts and tides: an aural scrapbook". Beethoven's "Ghost Trio" and Takemitsu's "Between Tides", both of which the Bakken Trio recorded on CD, balance the Dvorak Piano Quartet in E flat major. Former Bakken cellist Katja Linfield and violist Ken Freed join violinist Stephanie Arado and pianist Judy Lin to celebrate the favorites of their past.
The Bakken Trio has a 30-year long history of performing great chamber music in the Twin Cities, first as the Bakken Quartet at the Bakken Museum of Electricity and currently performing at MacPhail Center for Music. Winners of the McKnight Fellowship for Artists, they have received awards from the Composers Forum as well. Their two CD’s are available at Barnes and Noble and Cheapo.
