October 15, 2019, Tuesday - A New Haunt at Red Stag

Time: 7:30 PM – 10 PM

Location:  Red Stag Supperclub, 509 1st Ave NE

A New Haunt

The country's only recurring open mic dedicated to sci-fi, supernatural horror, and fantasy returns for its fifth season Oct 15 at a brand new location: The Red Stag Supper Club. With specual guests Gabriela Santiago, Vu Dang, and Matthew Kessen!

The evening's theme is "A New Haunt." Performers are encouraged to bring spooky stories inspired by the theme, though it's not required.

For October's Sentence Challenge, the performer who can most seamlessly, or creatively, fit the following line into their piece, as determined by the audience, will win a prize: "It was a deadline in the most literal sense." This challenge is optional but, like sticking to the theme, it's encouraged. It's also fun. And you might win. So, come on, challenge yourself! Just make sure you get your story done in time...

Open mic sign up starts at 7:15 pm. Show starts at 8 pm. The performance space is at the back of the Red Stag in the designated performance area. Booze and food are available for purchase.

If selected, open mic performers have up to 7 minutes of stage time. First-time performers are guaranteed stage time. Also, this is not just a storytelling open mic. You can bring songs, dance routines, comedy sets, etc. Just as long as it falls under "speculative fiction," and sticks to the time limit, it's game.
