Arts collide at the third annual Arts Quarter Festival: an evening mashup of visual art, dance, music and theatre showcasing student and faculty talent from across the University. In honor of the college’s 150th anniversary, the first two hours of the festival will showcase the work of CLA arts faculty Christine Baeumler, Carl Flink, Matthew Lefebvre, Lynn Lukkas and Talvin Wilks, in collaboration with student artists. Beginning at 8 pm, students take over the festival with work ranging from traditional to modern to experimental.

Ten Thousand Things presents: Scapin
Ten Thousand Things kicks off a new era under the direction of Artistic Director Marcela Lorca with Molière’s Scapin, the first show of the 2018-19 season. Randy Reyes directs his new adaptation of this raucous comedy about love affairs, revenge, family dynamics, deception, intrigue and greed. Performances in prisons, shelters and low-income centers begin September 27, with public performances October 11 to November 4 at Open Book. The cast features Sarah Agnew as Scapin, with Ricardo Beaird, Elise Langer, Kris Nelson, Kimberly Richardson and Darío Tangelson.
Tickets for Scapin are available at www.tenthousandthings.org or 800-838-3006. Tickets for public performances are $20 for the first week of performances, $30 for subsequent weeks. A pay-what-you-can option is available for every performance for audience members under age 30, with a minimum of $10.

Join Milkweed Editions in celebrating the launch of Michael S Bazzett's translation of the Mayan creation epic, THE POPOL VUH. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for mingling and cocktails, and the program will begin at 7:00 p.m. After a reading from THE POPOL VUH, Bazzett will be joined in conversation by poet and essayist Michael Kleber-Diggs. Discover the story of the National Historic Landmark Pillsbury A Mill, the largest flour mill in the world for many years, which recently reopened as the A-Mill Artist Lofts. A Mill City Museum guide will lead a tour of the former milling complex, including the rooftop deck and the basement waterpower facilities.
Highlights include the largest and best-preserved waterpower system in Minneapolis, with views straight down a 50-foot drop shaft through a glass floor. Guests will discover how the building functioned during the flour milling era; see the architectural highlights of the recently completed A-Mill Artist Lofts built within the historic mill buildings; and learn about the new hydroelectric plant that helps to power the complex. This tour is presented in partnership with A-Mill Artist Lofts.
This tour includes about 1.5 miles of moderately-paced walking indoors and outdoors with some uneven surfaces. Tours begin at the gray door on 3rd Avenue SE at Main Street (around the corner from the main entrance at 315 Main Street SE).
