MPRB’s Annual Fourth of July Celebration Red, White and Boom
Celebrate the Fourth of July during Minneapolis Red, White and Boom, a two-day celebration hosted by the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board. The event, held along the downtown Minneapolis Riverfront, features live music, great food, fun activities for the whole family, and the grand finale – fireworks!
On Tuesday, July 4, Father Hennepin Bluff Park will offer FREE family activities in the Family Fun Zone, 6:00pm–9:30pm including balloon twisters, caricature artists, hair and face painting,and a “Despicable Me 3” tattoo parlor, courtesy of event sponsor Universal Studios. Beginning with the arrival of Minnesota's first rail line in 1862, Minneapolis boomed in population and flour milling, lumber production and warehousing took off. Take a guided tour of railroad landmarks, including the Stone Arch Bridge, Milwaukee Road Depot and the Minneapolis Eastern Railway engine house and trestle. Along the way, find clues to the vanishing railroad landscape and learn about the future of Twin Cities rail.
The tour includes about 1.5 miles of moderately paced walking on uneven surfaces. Please call ahead to make arrangements for guests with limited mobility.

Then join a collaborative art-making project with Christopher Lutter-Gardella and get your groove on with local DJ Jake Rudh.
Gallery admission is free for everyone on the first Saturday of each month from 10 am to 6 pm, with a variety of family activities scheduled from 10 am to 3 pm.

Twin Cities Food Tours' Historic Northeast Minneapolis Food Tour
The Historic Northeast Walking Food Tour takes place in the Minneapolis neighborhood known as Northeast, or Nordeast to locals! You’ll savor favorites from 6 locations including sausages also served at Twins Stadium, authentic Neaopolitan Pizza, traditional Greek desserts and gourmet cheeses, to name a few. You’ll also learn how these local establishments came to be, who owns them and some fun and interesting stories they have to share. Learn how to cook market meals in our free, chef-led cooking demo, Mill City Cooks, offered every Saturday in the train shed patio at 10:30. This Saturday, market chef Heather will be making a seasonal dish. Guthrie Theater Story Time is the first Saturday of every month at 9:30 and 10 in the green music tent by the Guthrie stairs. Join Guthrie Theater actor H. Adam on the blue mats for 20-minute theatrical readings of our favorite kids’ books!

Power of Produce “PoP“ veggie tasting club is at the information tent every Saturday! Kids ages 3-12 can earn a $2 token to spend on fruits and veggies by tasting a local, seasonal vegetable, as a way to empower kids to make healthy eating decisions.

Nutrition and Public Health students lead our Meet Your Vegetables demonstrations at the top of the Chicago Mall, near Spoonriver restaurant. Discover creative, simple ways to prepare seasonal produce and walk away with a delicious sample and recipe card complete with nutrition information!
