2017 Community Connections Conference

Through a strong program of influential speakers, robust conversations, interactive exhibits, and best-practices, this year’s conference reflects a central purpose to strengthen and diversify neighborhood and community organizations and to better connect residents to City resources.  The conference program will include break-out sessions of 60-75 minutes, and the program will draw upon the City’s Core Principles of Community Engagement and IAP2 principles.

Program Structure

Inform and Consult - 9:15 am-10:15am
Overview and understanding of topics followed by discussion or exploration for action

Involve - 10:30 am-11:45 am
Interactive session to further dive into topic areas

Empower - 1:45 pm-3:00 pm -
Active working sessions dedicated to tangible actions and take away
 
Learning Labs
Learning Labs are dedicated to exploring issues and ideas, sharing techniques, and developing solutions. This is accomplished through an experiential learning format that:
•Provides models, skills and tools for advancing equity which participants can apply in their daily lives, work, and institutional and community contexts
•Defines and creates innovative means for measuring organizational, institutional and community transformation in engaging under-represented communities and strengthening neighborhood organizations
•Helps participants identify and utilize best practices for engagement with under-represented communities, City departments, and neighborhood and community organizations.

Twin Cities Food Tours' Historic Northeast Minneapolis Food Tour

The Historic Northeast Walking Food Tour takes place in the Minneapolis neighborhood known as Northeast, or Nordeast to locals! You’ll savor favorites from 6 locations including sausages also served at Twins Stadium, authentic Neaopolitan Pizza, traditional Greek desserts and gourmet cheeses, to name a few. You’ll also learn how these local establishments came to be, who owns them and some fun and interesting stories they have to share. The food sampled on the tour is included in the price of your ticket and is enough for a satisfying lunch.
