June 4, 2017, Sunday - Downtown Run Around with Mile in My Shoes

Join us for the inaugural Downtown Run Around With Mile in My Shoes

Mile in My Shoes is a nonprofit organization dedicated to "running together to change perceptions and to change lives."  Mile in My Shoes (MiMS) partners with homeless shelters and transitional housing facilities and implements running programs for residents who join with volunteer run mentors in completing 12- 16 week training sessions.  Along the way, resident members & run mentors not only find common ground, but begin to learn from and reach out to one another for support. As they transform themselves, they transform one another.

The Downtown Run Around is presented by Mile in My Shoes volunteers and resident participants.  The inaugural event will feature a 5k, Kid's Half Mile, and Mile race.  The main event is an out and back 5k fun run that will be run on the paths going from Father Hennepin Park, across the Stone Arch Bridge, and south along W. River Parkway to the Bohemian Flats, turning around and returning to Father Hennepin Park.  The Half Mile and Mile are on the Stone Arch Bridge.

100% of the proceeds of this event will benefit Mile in My Shoes, a 501 (c) (3) organization.

Participants in the Half Mile and the Mile will receive finisher medals.  Parents may participate with youth in the Half Mile at no additional cost.  All participants in the Mile must register and pay the $5 entry fee.

Participants in the Downtown Run Around 5K will each receive finisher shirts.
