February 6, 2020, Thursday - Curling & Purling on Nicollet

Time: 4p - 6p

Location: Nicollet between 6th and 7th Streets

Curling & Purling

Ever wonder what all the fuss is about Curling?

Come try your hand at one of the oldest and most quintessential winter sports in the heart of downtown Thursday afternoons starting January 30 between 6th and 7th streets. Learn how to throw a stone from an expert and play a quick match with your friends.

While you’re there, get creative with fiber artist Knitteapolis Yarnbomber and contribute to a public yarnbombing installation. Or carve your own design in cuttlebone and see it poured in piping hot liquid bronze live on the street with the folks from mobile foundry Pedal to the Metal.

Whether you come to cast a stone, a stitch or a miniature bronze sculpture, you’ll be kicking your winter blues into April by celebrating what makes winter great in Minneapolis.

We’ll have hot beverages and street games for all ages. Learn to knit and carve while you warm up in the newly renovated DID Nicollet Office between 6th and 7th streets, then pop outside for some seriously fun curling, purling and pouring.

Bring your enthusiasm (experience is not required).
