The public is cordially invited to attend an 1850s Holiday Party at the historic Ard Godfrey House Sunday, December 1, 2019, 12:30 – 3:30 p.m.
Visit the oldest remaining wood frame residence in Minneapolis! Built in 1849, the Ard Godfrey House is located at University & Central Avenues SE in Chute Square Park. The house is decorated for the holidays in the modest style of the era.
- Take a guided tour of the charming yellow Ard Godfrey house with docents dressed in 1850s period costume.
- See how the Godfrey family might have celebrated the holidays in the new community at St. Anthony Falls.
- Free Godfrey House buttons for the kids.
- Cookies and apple cider in the kitchen.
- ADMISSION FREE; donations suggested. No reservations necessary.
- Restored by The Woman’s Club of Minneapolis, the House has been open to the public since 1979.
Metered street parking available. Off-street parking in River Place Ramp, with entrance on 2nd Street SE, off East Hennepin Avenue, or at St. Anthony Falls Public Ramp, on 2nd Street SE off Central Avenue.
The Ard Godfrey House is partially wheelchair accessible on the main floor, but has the restrictions of a historic home. Please call Muriel (612-781-8791) one week in advance to make arrangements for guests with special needs.
The guides are all volunteers from The Woman’s Club of Minneapolis.
