Jennifer Glaws' Jagged Moves presents Touch Code

Dance • Music • Sculpture • Performance

Jennifer Glaws brings her viscerally honest choreographic voice and rich investigations in ENERGY and SPACE to the Southern Theater’s stage for a one-of-a-kind performance by Jagged Moves. The full evening, all female sextet, explores the central themes of boundaries and reclamation as flutist, Julie Johnson, performs a live, original score of her experimental and contemplative music. The dancers traverse the soundscape and mysterious, sculptural environment investigating the spaces between “us” and the relentless proclamation of the female voice.

Crafted collaboratively between Glaws and the performers, the choreography amplifies the energy, chemistry, and responsiveness to the interruption of personal space by exhibiting a raw and exposed view to the tensions, control, and power—or lack of power—in proximity.

FEATURING PERFORMING ARTISTS: Emilia Bruno, Emma Marlar, Gemma Rose Isaacson, Julie Johnson, Marisol Nicole Herling, Sharon Picasso, and Tori Casagranda

CHOREOGRAPHY AND ARTISTIC DIRECTION: Jennifer Glaws
SCULPTURE AND SET DESIGN: Jess Kiel-Wornson
SOUND DIRECTION AND DESIGN: Dan Dukich

March 8, 2020, Sunday - Fundamentals of Shaping at FOOD BUILDING

Time: 6p - 9p

Location: FOOD BUILDING, 1401 Marshall Street NE

Fundamentals of Shaping

Join us for a baking class on the fundamentals of dough shaping!

While part of bread’s delights come from flavor and the texture, an important element that influences these is a bread’s shape. Learn a variety of shapes including boule, batard, baguette and rolls through demonstration and hands-on practice. We will discuss which types of dough are most appropriate for various shapes, how to use tools like couches and lames, and how far to bake for best color and flavor. Note that the focus of the class is shaping, not dough production, as doughs will be prepared prior to class. Class participants will participate in baking loaves, and will take their shaped, baked loaves home.

As the class is held in an active commercial kitchen, students should wear comfortable clothing, closed-toed shoes and a hat. Aprons are available to borrow, or use your own if you prefer. Please advise us in advance of any food allergies, as snacks and samples will be provided throughout.
