Monica Edwards Larson / Sister Black (Bike) Press’s project Poetry of Resistance& Change consists of two parts: a temporary installation of letterpress printed poetry cards and a poetry reading and DIY printing event, using the mobile bicycle press, at the Soap Factory. The installation will consist of hundreds of letterpress printed poetry cards and broadsides featuring the work of local poets whose work bears witness to the many challenges facing our democracy, the health of our planet and all aspects of human rights that inspire action.
This project is a part of Lit Crawl. Lit Crawl MN boasts a roster of local authors, artists and performers at 10+ different events that range from readings, improv, games, interactive story-building and a hands-on workshop. A celebration of the vibrant literary scene in the Twin Cities, this lively crawl will have something for everyone. Lit Crawl Minneapolis is a project of Bartmann Group and the Litquake Foundation.
Meet at Bryant Lake Bowl, 810 W. Lake St. (in adjacent alley) at 6 pm for a group ride to The Soap Factory. The comfortably paced six-mile route will follow the Midtown Greenway trail to Hiawatha LRT trail to 11th Ave to W. River Pkwy and across the Stone Arch bridge…Food and beer trucks will be waiting! Join local poets for readings and performances at the opening reception. Poets include: D. Allen, Michael Kleber-Diggs, Marion Gomez, Junauda Petrus, Maitreyi Ray, Hawona Sullivan-Janzen and Ben Weaver.
