Explore the North Loop is the event for you.
The North Loop Neighborhood Association is putting together an afternoon of exploring some of the coolest condos and offices in our hip neighborhood.
"$10 for a Sunday afternoon of exploration"
How to Explore: You will receive an emailed ticket the week prior to the event with a full map of the participating spaces. From 2 until 6 pm walk, bike or drive to the different stops. Check them out, explore and experience. Some spaces will provide swag, samples and or refreshments. As you go from place to place, take note of the hippest place and cast your Hippest In The North Loop vote by text message. (Voting info will be on your ticket)
First 30 tickets purchased get admission to the after party on the 222 roof deck.
* All proceeds go toward street greening in the North Loop.

The Zombie 6.66K is a fun run for zombies and humans alike along the downtown Minneapolis riverfront. Saturday, October 12, 2013!
Start and finish on historic Main Street. In between you'll pass some of the city's most scenic landmarks (including Mill Ruins Park, Nicollet Island, and the Grain Belt brewery), enjoy great views of the Minneapolis skyline and St. Anthony Falls, and finish by crossing the historic Stone Arch Bridge. What other bloody surprises await along the race? You'll have to come find out!
Scratch vs. Mix: Which Brownie is Better?
Fee: Programs included with museum admission of $11 adults, $9 seniors and college students, $6 children ages 6-17; free for MHS members.
See how history is revealed in food in the Baking Lab. Museum staff demonstrate making brownies from scratch versus a mix and share the history of the development of baking mixes. Visitors will be able to taste the results and vote on their favorite, learn home baking tips and take home a copy of the recipe.

Youth in Music invites your marching band to participate in the 9th Annual Youth In Music Marching Band Championship. This event has become the premier event in the upper midwest. The date for these events will be Saturday October 12, 2013 at the Hubert H Humphrey Metrodome. The Metrodome is the premier stadium in the upper Midwest and will provide your students with a one-of-a-kind performance experience in a professional environment.

Hungry for an off-the-beaten path Minneapolis food experience? Join us as we explore one of the city's trendy and historical neighborhoods, Mill District and St. Anthony on Main in Northeast Minneapolis. You'll enjoy the afternoon sampling food at the first Thai restaurant in Minnesota, drinking local Minnesota brewed beer at the oldest restaurant in Minneapolis, and enjoy a local favorite - the cheese curds. You'll also enjoy mouth-watering pasta located in the historical Chase building, fresh baked European style bread at a local Farmers Market, home-made gelato, and lip smacking BBQ sliders from a historical restaurant that once operated as a mattress company.
Along with sampling food we will also visit the Mill City Museum, stroll by the Guthrie, and enjoy gorgeous views of St. Anthony Falls as we walk along the Stone Arch Bridge into historical St. Anthony on Main. You'll learn about the history of both these neighborhoods including a stroll along the oldest street in Minneapolis. You'll taste and chat with other food-loving guests, and leave the tour with an appreciation for these distinct neighborhoods that most tourist never see!

Book Arts Roundtable with visiting artist Macy Chadwick
Macy Chadwick publishes artist’s books and limited-edition prints under the imprint In Cahoots Press in Oakland, California. She received an MFA in Book Arts and Printmaking from The University of the Arts in Philadelphia and assisted book artist Julie Chen at Flying Fish Press in Berkeley for three years. She currently teaches at Academy of Art University in San Francisco, San Francisco Art Institute, and San Francisco Center for the Book. Her work is in prominent collections in the U.S. and abroad, including the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, Yale University Special Collections in New Haven, and The Jack Ginsberg Collection in South Africa.

Mu Performing Arts - Kung Fu Zombies vs. Cannibals

Take a ride into a post-apocalyptic world where zombies have taken over and cannibals hide in the mountains. Based on the five Buddhist tenets, follow two Lao women as they struggle to maintain their personal moral code in a world gone wrong.

SAYMOUKDA DUANGPHOUXAY VONGSAY is an award-winning Lao American poet and playwright whose poetry, essays, plays, and short stories have been published by literary journals, lifestyle magazines, almanacs, newspapers, anthologies, and scholastic journals nationwide. She was named a 2011 Change Maker by Intermedia Arts and is a recipient of numerous scholarships to continue her education and work in philanthropy, arts administration, public policy, and literary arts.
Cast consists of the lead actors: Meghan Kreidler, Laura Anderson, Payton Woodson, Maxwell Thao, Ayden Her, Jeannie Lander, Phasoua Vang, Allen Malicsi and a Fighting Chorus with: Rocky Her, Mikey Postle, Venise Berte, Joelle Fernandez, and Taylor Her.
This play marks the beginning of Randy Reyes’ tenure as Mu's new Artistic Director after 21 years under the leadership of Rick Shiomi. Randy will direct this newest product of the Mu Performing Arts/Jerome New Performance Program.

The annual American Indian College Fund Flame of Hope Gala will be held at The Depot in Minneapolis to raise funds for scholarships to benefit Native students.
