November 2, 2011, Wednesday - Happy Hour with a Preservationist - Tour of the Grain Exchange

Time: 5:30pm to 6:30pm

Location: Grain Exchange, 400 South Fourth Street

Preserve Minneapolis' November Happy Hour will be at the newly rehabilitated Grain Exchange building.

Constructed in several phases between 1902 and 1955, the building was renovated and restored in the 1980s. The Grain Exchange Trading Floor was included in that restoration project. In the 2000s, trading ceased and the space became vacant. Preservationists were concerned that without a tenant the space could be subdivided and lose its historic character. Fortunately, a new tenant was found for the Trading Floor - CoCo (Coworking and Collaborative Space) - that fits the historic space and brings life back to the floor.

We will tour the exterior and interior of the building with architect Bob Mack, and spend most of the time on the Trading Floor learning how CoCo has adapted the space.

This event is free!
