Building on its sold-out first season success, Mill City Summer Opera (MCSO) recently announced its second season production of Gioachino Rossini’s popular and comedic masterpiece, The Barber of Seville. The opera’s five performances (July 13, 15, 17, 19, 21, 2013) will take place under the stars in the inspiring Ruin Courtyard of Mill City Museum. Tickets go on sale May 20, 2013 at 12 a.m. online at tickets.mnhs.org, and at 10:00am by phone by calling 612-341-7582, or in person at the Museum’s ticket desk.
Sold out weeks before its July, 2012 opening night, MSCO’s stirring debut production of Pagliacci was heralded as a new highlight on the region’s performance scene that brought together a diverse audience of both opera buffs and a rousing new audience of all ages. The outstanding cast and production, under the artistic direction of David Lefkowich, was named “Best New Opera Company” in the annual Best Of issue of Mpls St. Paul Magazine.
Lefkowich returns for MCSO’s second season to present the Rossini’s two-act tale of love, disguise, and deceit set against the backdrop of 18th-century Spain and just steps from the Mississippi River.
