Flooding predictions aside, this has already been a trying year for the U of M Rowing Team practice routine. Monday was the first time the team rowed the Mississippi in 2011. It was too windy on Tuesday, and by Wednesday there was a new blanket of ice. By the time the ice melts again, the river will likely be flooded, meaning two things.

Bills have been introduced in the House and Senate to repeal 2009 amendments to Minn. Statutes §116G.15, which directed the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources to update 35-year-old standards and guidelines for river corridor development through state rules.
