March 16, 2017, Thursday - East Town Business Partnership Forum at Day Block Brewing

The next East Town Business Partnership Forum is scheduled for Thursday, March 16, at Dayblock Brewing.The title for this month's forum is, “R.T. Rybak on Leadership and Philanthropy."This is a joint forum with the Minneapolis Downtown Council.  There is no cost to attend this month's business forum. Parking is available on Washington Avenue, adjacent side streets and surface lots within walking distance. Ramp parking is available close by at the Guthrie Theater.

Description
The March East Town Business Partnership Forum is a joint forum with the Minneapolis Downtown Council-DID featuring former Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak where he will discuss a range of topics important to Minneapolis and the downtown sector. Rybak’s career spans journalism, a three term mayor of Minneapolis and currently as the President and CEO of the Minneapolis Foundation. Rybak recently released his political memoir titled “Pothole Confidential” that will be on sale at the forum.
 
Featured Speaker - R.T. Rybak

Rybak is a Minneapolis native.  He raised his family and has worked his entire career in the city. He is currently CEO and President of the Minneapolis Foundation.

During his 12 years as Mayor of Minneapolis, Rybak led efforts in economic development, affordable housing, and transportation. He also partnered with The Minneapolis Foundation on a community-wide effort to prevent youth violence.  As mayor, he launched the STEP-UP summer jobs program, which has employed 22,000 young people. Previously, he worked in journalism, marketing, commercial real estate, and Internet strategy.

Rybak is also a Senior Advisor for Municipal Practice at Living Cities, which is focused on working with cross-sector leaders in cities across the country to build a new type of urban practice aimed at dramatically improving the economic well-being of low-income people. Additionally, he serves on the Boards of the Northside Achievement Zone and the Minneapolis Parks Foundation.

A graduate of Boston College with a degree in Political Science and Communications, Rybak is the author of “Pothole Confidential,” a book about his years as Mayor.
